The Clear Islam

Muhammad (PBUH): the final messenger

Muslims believe that Muhammad (PBUH) was the final prophet in a long line of messengers sent by God to guide humanity. He was not a divine being but a mortal man chosen by God to deliver His final and complete message, the Quran.

His Early Life (The Trustworthy One) Muhammad (PBUH) was born in the city of Mecca (in modern-day Saudi Arabia) in the year 570 CE. He was orphaned at a young age and grew up to be known for his exceptional character. Long before he became a prophet, he was given the title Al-Amin, “the trustworthy,” by the people of his city because of his impeccable honesty and integrity.

At the age of 40, during a spiritual retreat in a cave outside Mecca, Muhammad (PBUH) received his first revelation from God through the angel Gabriel. These revelations continued for the rest of his life, forming the text of the Quran. His message was simple but revolutionary in a society that worshipped many idols: there is only One God, and He alone deserves worship.

His Character and Mission The mission of the Prophet was to deliver this message and to be a living example of the Quran’s teachings. He was a model of:

  • Compassion: He showed kindness to the poor, the orphaned, and the widowed.
  • Justice: He stood up for the rights of the oppressed and established a just society.
  • Humility: Despite being a leader, he lived a simple life, mended his own clothes, and helped with household chores.
  • Forgiveness: When he peacefully conquered the city of Mecca, which had persecuted him and his followers for years, he granted a general amnesty to all his former enemies.

For Muslims, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the ultimate role model. Following his example (Sunnah) in matters of worship, ethics, and daily life is a fundamental part of the faith.
